Hello Wembleyites

I love my light, and I was talking with a friend that there was a 'lost shell' that might be Wembley.  Wouldn't it be great if this was it?   There are no identifying marks that I can see - alas.

Your expert opinion is sought.  :)

Hi Katherine, would love to tell you that it's wembley ware but first you will need to show us some pictures of your lamp so that we can have a good look.  In the meantime until we see the pictures I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Regards

Katherine, if you can show a photo of your lamp,it would certainly be of great help in trying to identify your lamp. The lamp I am showing here, is the same as a lamp I saw over 20 years ago, which was stated to be Wembley Ware. I never bought that lamp at the time, as I was unsure if it was Wembley Ware, and it was expensive at the time, but bought my one on here years later as the price was right to take a chance on it. My lamp I do not think it is Wembley Ware, and I have seen Pates Pottery (a Sydney pottery), mentioned as the maker for this lamp. I put my one on as it could be the same as the one you mention, but of course it maybe a different lamp altogether.I am not even sure if you mean "Sea Shell" for your lamp.

Photo of my lamp, considered made by Pates.

We have two of these lamps Joe and Katherine and I love them - some say Wembley - others say no - I have never seen one with a mark or a sticker but they fit the era and also the lustre. I think it will be one of those "what if's" - meanwhile enjoy!!

You have two of these Lee. I am not sure either of the maker. It could be Wembley Ware. It is similar in glaze and style to what they made. Somewhere sometime I recall Pates mentioned by somebody, so that is why I mentioned it here. I will have to try a little harder in seeing if other pottery collectors have any ideas on these. It must be near on twenty five years that I saw my first one, and I am still unsure of maker. From memory I have only seen three of these, so they are certainly not common.
